Central Lyon proves to be too much for Ridge View, 67-41


Ridge View fell behind early only to make a furious rally after that, but it wasn’t enough as No. 3-ranked Central Lyon regained the momentum in the second half to come away with a 67-41 win in a Class 1A regional final game on Wednesday at Kingsley.

Central Lyon (22-2) scored the first 13 points of the game before Ridge View got a free throw from Madison Stowater with 3:31 to go in the first quarter. Central Lyon extended the lead to 21-2 and led 23-6 after the first quarter.

Central Lyon matched its biggest lead of 19 points early in the second quarter. The Raptors followed that with eight unanswered points and ended the first half on a 17-6 run to pull within 33-25 by halftime.

A three-pointer by Stowater with 5:40 left in the third quarter got Ridge View within 37-33. Central Lyon, however, responded with 13-0 straight points and carried a 50-35 lead into the fourth quarter. The Raptors couldn’t get any closer than that the rest of the way.

Stowater scored a game-high 24 points to lead Ridge View. Katie Pickhinke added eight points.

Addison Klosterbuer led three Lions in double- igures with 19 points.

Ridge View ended its season 19-5. It was the final game in the careers of Pickhinke, Emma Vohs, Addison Schmidt, Sky Henkel and Morgan Todd.
