Blood drive collects 81 units

For over 15 years, Storm Lake and surrounding communities have been supporting the local blood bank, LifeServe Blood Center, at the community blood drives organized by Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.

The blood drives were held Tuesday, April 6 and Friday, April 16 to keep our blood supply safe as we move into busy summer months.

LifeServe Blood Center was able to collect 81 units of blood saving up to 243 local lives.

We celebrate the following donors who hit milestone donations: Jaye Kwikkel and Theodore Smith, one gallon; Pamela Henderson and Misty Johnson, three gallons; Lori Porsch, four gallons; Joy Phelps, seven gallons; James Kracht, eight gallons; and Bradley Anderson, 12 gallons.

The next blood drives will be Tuesday, May 4 from 12:30-6 p.m. at St. Mark’s Church and Friday, May 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at United Methodist Church.

Thanks to everyone who came out to show their support. Be sure to text ‘LIFESERVE’ to 999-777 to make your next appointment and we look forward to seeing you next time.
