Tighter budget doesn’t allow upkeep of old

For years county officials have complained there wasn’t enough money to maintain road systems.
That’s why the Iowa Legislature in 2015 approved a 10-cent hike in the gas tax. County Engineer Bret Wilkinson told The Storm Lake Times in May 2017 the tax generated an additional $730,000 in road-use tax revenue annually.
