Springfield, Mo. resident arrested on car theft


At 11 a.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to 725 E. Lakeshore Dr. in reference to a stolen vehicle.

Police learned that a 2008 GMC pickup truck had been stolen from the driveway of the address.

Officers located the stolen vehicle parked near the intersection of West First Street and Michigan Street thirty minutes after the report. Investigators found that Samuel Stuckey of Springfield Mo. stole the pickup.

Police found Stuckey in room 217 in Pierce Hall on the campus of BVU. Police allegedly seized several items stolen in previous burglaries reported to BVU dorm rooms in March and early April of this year.

Stuckey was charged with four counts of third-degree burglary, burglary to a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle without owner’s consent, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

The following burglaries at BVU were cleared with Stuckey’s arrest.

March 28 burglary to Pierce Hall Room 130.

March 28 burglary to Pierce Hall Room 211.

April 4 burglary to Pierce Hall Room 131.

April 9 burglary to McCorkle Hall Room 9.

 

Norwalk woman arrested, charged with OWI


Police arrested a Norwalk woman Sunday after finding she was driving while intoxicated and in possession of drug paraphernalia and a stolen traffic barricade.

At 10:55 p.m. Sunday, an officer observed a vehicle in the 700 block of Barton Street driving recklessly.

Police stopped the vehicle and made contact with driver identified as Kathryn Phillips of Norwalk. Police allege Phillips was intoxicated and arrested her. Upon further investigation, police seized drug paraphernalia and a stolen traffic barricade from West Des Moines in her vehicle.

Phillips was charged with OWI, possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia and careless driving.  She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $2,600 bond.

 

Failure to appear leads to arrest of BVU student


Police apprehended a BVU student Friday for failing to appear in court for a speeding violation.

At 1 p.m. Friday, the police were dispatched to BVU to locate Madeline Bardole, 21, of Granger, who was wanted out of Buena Vista County for failure to appear in court for a speeding violation.

Bardole was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $250 bond.

The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted by the BVU Security Department.

 

Probation violation


Police arrested a Laurens man Sunday after he violated the terms of his probation.

At 4 p.m. Sunday, a wanted person surrendered himself to police at the Storm Lake Police Station.

Police arrested Jeremy Fort, 24, who was wanted out of Buena Vista County on a warrant charging him with violation of probation.

Fort was booked into the county jail on a $2,000 bond.

 

Storm Lake man arrested on probation violation


Police arrested a Storm Lake man Saturday morning after learning he was wanted out of state for violating the terms of his probation.

At 2:40 a.m. Saturday, an officer conducted a pedestrian check in the 600 block of West Ninth Street.

Police made contact with Duol Tut Jock, 24, and learned that Jock was wanted by the Benton County, Minn. on a warrant charging him with violation of probation reference fourth-degree controlled substance felony violation.

Jock was arrested and booked into the county jail where he was held without bond pending extradition.

 

SL men arrested for stolen video game equipment


Police arrested two Storm Lake men after they allegedly attempted to pawn stolen video game equipment at the Storm Lake Game Stop Thursday.

Police were dispatched to 219 W. Seventh St. Thursday in reference to a theft.

Police met with the reporting party, who advised that Miguel Castro stole an X Box and related items from his residence.

Police further learned Thursday that Castro and his roommate, Davonte Allfaro, attempted to pawn the stolen items at the Game Stop Store in Storm Lake.  A review of security video at the store assisted in identifying the two suspects.

Police obtained a search warrant for Castro and Allfaro’s apartment located at 503 ½ Lake Ave. and executed it on Thursday. Police executed the warrant and took them both into custody.

Police charged Allfaro, 20, with possession of stolen property and booked him into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 bond.

Castro, 18, was charged with fifth-degree theft and was also wanted out of Story County on a warrant charging him with violation of probation reference third-degree burglary. He was booked into the county jail on a $6,300 bond.

 

Assault with weapon leads to SL man’s arrest


Police arrested a Storm Lake man Thursday on an outstanding warrant alleging assault with a dangerous weapon.

At 4:30 p.m. Thursday, police located Ricardo Evan Juarez, 22, in the 1800 block of Lake Avenue Juarez was wanted out of Buena Vista County on a warrant for assault with a dangerous weapon.

Juarez was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.

 

Fight at SLMS


Police arrested a 14-year-old student at Storm Lake Middle School for attempting to start a fight in the gym Tuesday afternoon.

Police were advised that a 14-year-old female student of Storm Lake allegedly attempted to start a fight with another student in the gymnasium but was restrained by staff.

Police charged the student with disorderly conduct and released her to a parent pending a court date.

The case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Court Authority.
