Attempted assault at Marketlink; SL woman arrested


Police arrested an Alta woman Wednesday after she traveled intoxicated to Marketlink to assault an employee.

At 7:46 p.m. Wednesday, police were dispatched to Marketlink at 1407 North Lake Ave. in reference to an assault.

Police met with the reporting party who alleged that Shanice Banks, 22, came to Marketlink and physically assaulted him after a verbal altercation.

Police further allege that Banks was intoxicated and that she drove her one and three year old children to Marketlink while intoxicated and left them in the vehicle when she entered to commit the assault.

Banks was arrested and charged with child endangerment, OWI, domestic assault, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass and public intoxication. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.

A report was field with the Department of Human Services.

 

Drug possession leads to arrest of Iowa duo


Storm Lake Police arrested two Iowa residents Monday night on suspicion of drugs changing hands.

At 10:45 p.m. Monday, police observed a suspicious vehicle parked in Chautauqua Park.

Police made contact with occupants and allege they detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The occupants were identified as Damian Jackson, 20 of Grimes, and Patricia Arceco, 18, of Rembrandt.  Police allege they found both persons to be in possession of small quantities of marijuana and the investigation further alleges that Jackson had just delivered some marijuana to Arceco.

Police seized the marijuana and other drug paraphernalia.

The SLPD charged Jackson with delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $5,300 bond.

Arceco was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was booked into the county jail on a $1,300 bond.

The vehicle the two occupied was impounded pending the execution of a search warrant on the vehicle.

 

SL women arrested on theft charges, jailed


Police arrested two Storm Lake residents on warrants alleging they stole from Storm Lake Wal-Mart.

At 9:28 a.m. Thursday, police responded to 1328 North Erie St. #6 to locate Kayla Davis, 20, and Destiny Brown, 20, who were wanted by the SLPD on warrants charging them with fifth-degree theft.

The charges stemmed from an alleged theft at the Storm Lake Wal-Mart on Sept. 26.

Police booked both women into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 bond each.

 

Alta man assaults child, arrested and charged


The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Alta man for physically abusing a six-year-old.

On Nov. 23, the BV County Sheriff responded to a suspected child abuse occurring in Alta after a report surfaced from the Department of Human Services alleging that a six-year-old was being abused.

Buena Vista deputies arrested Andrew Lee Russell, 30, and charged him with child endangerment.

Andrew was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and later released after posting a $20,000 bond.

 

Non-valid license leads to arrest of SL man in Spencer


The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Storm Lake man in Spencer for operating a vehicle without a valid license.

At 8:17 p.m. Nov. 27, a Clay County deputy conducted a traffic stop in the McDonald’s parking lot in Spencer.

The deputy discovered the driver, identified as Luis Angulano-Lopez, 41, was operating the vehicle without a valid license.

Police charged Lopez with failure to have a valid license and failure to provide financial liability.

Lopez was booked into the Clay County Jail on a $300 bond.
