SL man arrested: public urination police allege

Police arrested a Storm Lake man Thursday for urinating on the ER floor at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center (BVRMC).

At 8:41 p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to BVRMC in reference to Sefton Akin, 35, allegedly urinating in the ER while shouting obscenities at staff.

Police arrested Akin and further allege he refused to enter a police car. He was subdued and placed in a police vehicle after a brief struggle with officers.

Akin was charged with disorderly conduct and interference with official acts.

He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $600 bond.


Peterson man charged with domestic assault

Police arrested a Peterson man for throwing his girlfriend on the floor of his residence.

At 11:04 p.m. Friday, The Clay County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding Christopher Kacmarynski, 37, allegedly striking his girlfriend to the floor.

Kacmarynski was arrested and charged with domestic abuse assault.

He was held without bond to appear before a magistrate.


SL man arrested on OWI, concealed weapon charge

At 12:42 a.m. Saturday, an officer stopped Paul Bainbridge, 21, for a traffic violation in the 100 block of Flindt Drive.

Police allege that he was armed with a .40 caliber handgun and was intoxicated. 

Police seized the weapon and arrested Bainbridge charging him with carrying a concealed weapon, OWI and open container.

He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $3,300 bond.


Police allege SL man drove on suspended license

Police arrested a Storm Lake man Friday for driving with a suspended license and attempting to transport methamphetamine upon his arrest.

At 3:10 p.m. Friday, an officer stopped Scott Banks, 32, in the 1400 block of Lake Avenue for a traffic offense.

Police allege that he had a suspended driver’s license.

Police arrested Banks and transported him to the Buena Vista County Jail where police allege that Banks had methamphetamine on his person upon booking.

Police charged Banks with possession of a controlled sustance third offense, introducing a controlled substance into a correctional facility, prohibited acts and driving while suspended. He was held on a $12,300 bond.


SL juvenile arrested on failure to appear charge

Police arrested a wanted Storm Lake juvenile Wednesday for failing to appear in court regarding a drug charge and two assault charges.

At 3:28 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to 603D West 8th St. to locate a 17-year-old male who was wanted for failing to appear in court reference possession of a controlled substance and two counts of assault.

The juvenile was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.


SL woman violates no contact order, police allege

Police arrested a Storm Lake woman Wednesday for violating a no contact order.

At 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to 516 Seneca Street to located Melody Shull, 39, who was wanted on violation of a no contact order.

The warrant stemmed from an incident where police allege she violated a no contact order at 207 Geneseo St. #1.

Shull was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.
