SL man jailed for stealing car, OWI


Police arrested a Storm Lake man Aug. 8 for being intoxicated behind the wheel and possessing a stolen vehicle.

At 7:28 p.m. Aug. 8, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a reckless driver northbound from Sioux Rapids into Clay County. A deputy located the vehicle and found the driver, Dehler John, 22, to be intoxicated, in possession of an open alcoholic beverage, and not having a valid driver’s license.

Police found the vehicle John was driving to be stolen out of Storm Lake.

Police charged John with his first offense for OWI, no driver’s license and second-degree theft.

John was transported to the Clay County Jail without incident and was held to appear before a magistrate.

 

Domestic dispute at bar


Police arrested two Holstein residents Friday morning for an argument involving a car running over a curb.

At 12:57 a.m. Friday, an officer observed Perla Hernandez, 29, allegedly driving over the curb in the 300 block of West Railroad Street.

Police stopped Hernandez and discovered she was following Daniel Cisneros, 34, after a verbal altercation at a local bar. 

Cisneros decided to walk from the bar and Hernandez followed him in the vehicle when she reportedly ran over the curb.

Police allege that Hernandez was intoxicated and arrested her charging her with OWI.  She was booked into jail on a $1,000 bond.

Police allege that Cisneros had a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle. Police seized the items and arrested Cisneros charging him with possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into jail on a $1,300 bond.

 

Wall Lake woman faces more charges


Police charged Alexandria Pratt with identity theft after she was arrested Aug. 5 for stealing a car. 

Police allege that Pratt, 19, of Wall Lake, used checking account numbers obtained from a victim of a vehicle burglary in an attempt to obtain approximately $400 in merchandise from the Storm Lake Wal-Mart. 

The sale was denied when Pratt could not present identification matching the victim’s.

Pratt was charged with identity theft among six other charges leveled against her.

Pratt was served with the warrant in the Buena Vista County Jail where she remains held on a $10,000 bond.

SL man works up a fall cleaning froth


Police arrested a Storm Lake man for throwing items from his Oneida St. residence Monday morning.

At 4:42 a.m. Monday, officers were dispatched to 507 Oneida St. in reference to Romeo Joab, 39, who was allegedly intoxicated and throwing items from the front door of his residence.

Police arrested Joab and charged him with disorderly conduct. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 bond.

 

Bench suffers assault


Police arrested a Storm Lake man who damaged a bench at a West 5th Street property.

At 4:39 a.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to 107 West 5th Street in reference to Jose Adrian Gomez Raymundo, 30, who was allegedly banging on doors and damaging property.

Police allege that Raymundo had damaged a bench that was attached to a wall.

Police charged Raymundo with public intoxication and criminal mischief. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $600 bond.

 

Handgun at hotel


Police arrested a Crocket, Tx. man Saturday for carrying a hangun at King’s Pointe without a permit.

At 10:15 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to Kings Pointe Resort in reference to James Fields, 38, in a guest room with a .40 caliber handgun in his possession without a permit.

Police seized the weapon and arrested Fields charging him with carrying a weapon.  He was booked into jail on a $2,000 bond.
