Hit and run reported at Midtown

A hit and run accident was reported at Midtown on Flindt Drive at 6:51 p.m. Sunday.

Police learned that a 1993 teal Mercury had been struck by a 1995 Ford truck. The truck allegedly fled from the scene.

Witnesses observed the fleeing vehicle park in the 500 block of East Fifth Street.

Police located the vehicle and subsequently located the driver, Victor Kilmete, 43, of Storm Lake, in a residence at 700 Hudson St.

Police charged Kilmete with OWI, public intoxication, driving while revoked and leaving the scene of an accident. He was booked into the county jail on an $8,300 bond.

No injuries were reported.


Traffic stop leads to arrest

A vehicle was stopped in the 1500 block of East Lakeshore Drive Friday morning at 9:15 a.m. because of a traffic violation.

The driver, Jose Ricardo Diaz, 32, of Storm Lake, was wanted on a warrant out of BV County for failure to appear in court in reference to failure to pay fines.

Diaz was arrested by police and further charged with no valid driver’s license and a tinted window violation.

He was booked into the county jail on a $217.30 bond.


Man arrested on sex offender charge

A wanted person was located on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. at 1804 East Milwaukee Ave. #131.

Police arrested Dion Mario Banks, 32, of Storm Lake, who was wanted on warrants issued out of Buena Vista County charging him with three counts of sex offender registration violation.

He was booked into the BV County Jail on a $2,000 bond.


Wanted man jailed

Police located a wanted person at 611 East Sixth St. Friday at 6:40 p.m.

Police located Jason Flowers, 38, of Storm Lake and arrested him on warrants issued out of BV County charging him with two counts of sex offender registration violation.

Flowers was booked into the county jail on a $2,000 bond.


Man cited for hitting, threatening other man

An assault was reported Friday at 11:30 p.m. and police responded to 723 Superior St.

Police were told that Raul Burgos-Rojas, 46, of Storm Lake, struck another man and threatened to hit him with a bottle.

The suspect fled from the scene when police were called.

Police checked the area and at 12:30 a.m. Saturday police located Rojas at 719 Oneida St.

Rojas was charged with assault while displaying a weapon. He was booked into the county jail on a $2,000 bond.


Chicago man arrested at SL night club

A police officer on patrol Sunday morning observed a disturbance at the front door of Malarky’s Night Club at 1:40 a.m.

Police intervened and were told that Aaron Long, 33, of Chicago, Ill., was allegedly told by night club management to leave the club but refused.

Police took Long into custody. He reportedly resisted officers but was subdued.

Police charged Long with criminal trespass, public intoxication and interference with official acts.

He was booked into the BV County Jail on a $900 bond.

No injuries were reported.


Storm Lake man charged with trespassing

Police were called to McCord Manor at 210 East 13th St. in reference to a trespass Sunday at 5:11 p.m.

Police were told that Justin Marlow, 25, of Storm Lake, had been previously told by management staff to stay off the property and that on Sunday afternoon, Marlow had been in apartment #28 in violation of the management’s instructions.

Marlow had departed prior to the arrival of police.

Officers located Marlow walking in the 1100 block of Spooner Street where he was arrested without incident.

Police charged Marlow with criminal trespass. He was booked into the county jail on a $300 bond.
