Police find drugs in traffic stop


Two Storm Lake men were arrested Friday evening after police found marijuana in the vehicle following a traffic stop.

Dalton Goodman, 18, of Storm Lake, was pulled over on Friday in the 1800 block of Lake Ave. for a traffic offense. Police alleged that Goodman was driving with a suspended license.

After impounding Goodman’s vehicle police found marijuana packaged for street sales in the vehicle. Police transported Goodman to the police station along with the passenger in the vehicle, Alexander Ordonez, 18, of Storm Lake.

After an investigation police charged Goodman and Ordonez with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, a Class D felony. They were booked into Buena Vista County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond each.

Failure to register


Merle Mueggenberg, 48, of Storm Lake, was arrested and charged on Friday afternoon with failure to comply with sex offender registry.

According to police, a citizen reported that Mueggenberg was at the St. Mary’s baseball and softball fields on June 13. The area is considered an “exclusion zone” and his presence was a violation of the conditions of the sexual offender registry.

Mueggenberg was booked into Buena Vista County Jail on a $2,000 cash bond.

Wanted man jailed


Shoua Xiong, 42, of Storm Lake, was arrested on Saturday morning at 802 West Sixth St.

Xiong was wanted on a warrant in reference to an OWI. He is being held in Buena Vista County Jail without bond.

SL man arrested on warrant


Salvador Parra, 57, of Storm Lake, was arrested on Saturday at 111 Mae St. at 2 p.m.

Parra was wanted on a warrant in reference to an OWI, which is his second offense. Parra is being held in Buena Vista County Jail without bond.

Wanted on drug charge


Fredrick Scott, 27, of Storm Lake, was arrested at 707 Hyland Dr. at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

Scott was wanted in connection with possession of marijuana. He was booked into Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.

Man jailed on warrant


Eric Reyes, 20, of Storm Lake, was arrested Sunday at 702 West Eighth St. Reyes was wanted on a domestic assault charge stemming from an alleged assault that occurred on May 25.

Reyes was booked into Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 cash bond.

Multiple arrests made at LakeFest

Intoxicated man jailed


Zach Niebuhr, 33, of Aurelia, was arrested at 8:15 p.m. after allegedly refusing to comply with no tobacco rules during LakeFest and was allegedly disrespectful to volunteers.  Niebuhr was charged with public intoxication and booked into jail on a $300 cash bond.

Disturbance leads to arrest


Corey Campbell, 36, of Lyton, was arrested at 10 p.m. after reportedly attempting to start a fight during LakeFest.

Campbell was charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication. He was booked on a $600 cash bond.

Carroll man arrested


David Blunk, 36, of Carroll, was arrested after police allege he was unable to remain standing and fell repeatedly in front of officers during LakeFest. Blunk was arrested and charged with public intoxication. He was booked into the county jail on a $300 cash bond.

Audubon man attacks another person, later jailed 


Matthew Randeris, 23, of Audubon, was arrested after allegedly attacking another person during LakeFest. Randeris was charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication and booked into the county jail on a $600 cash bond.

Man jailed for public intox


Carlos Leon, 20, of Storm Lake, was arrested on Saturday night after police allegedly found him consuming alcohol near a night club.

A police officer was on patrol at 11:45 p.m. in the 200 block of East Railroad Street. The officer found Leon allegedly drinking near the Tequila Dance Club. Leon refused to identify himself  and was arrested. He was charged with public intoxication, possession of alcohol and interference with official acts.

Duo busted for marijuana


Demetrius Trimble, 20, and Derrick Bolden, 21, of Storm Lake, were arrested Sunday in Sunrise Park for the possession and smoking of marijuana.

Trimble was charged with possession of marijuana and gathering where controlled substances are used, both serious misdemeanors. He was booked into the county jail on a $2,000 cash bond.

Bolden was charged with possession of marijuana, gathering where controlled substances are used and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. He was booked into the county jail on a $2,300 cash bond.

Disturbance leads to arrest


Jorge Melesio-Perez, 28, of Storm Lake, was arrested Sunday night at 721 Michigan St. after engaging in an argument with a family member and pushing his brother while they were in the yard at their residence.

Melesio-Perez was charged with disorderly conduct. He was booked into Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 cash bond.

Police searching


Police arrested two men and are searching for the third after pulling over a vehicle near Seneca Street.

Dalton Goodman, 18, of Storm Lake, was arrested after a brief foot chase and was charged with driving while suspended, possession of alcohol and interference with official acts. He was booked into Buena Vista County Jail on a $900 cash bond.

Angelo Hawthorne, 20, of Albert City, was arrested after attempting to flee. He was caught near the intersection of West Fourth and College Street. He was arrested and charged with possession of alcohol and interference with official acts. He was booked into the county jail on a $900 cash bond.

A third person has been identified and is currently being searched for.
