SL girls fall to Lakes foe Emmetsburg

Brenna Richter had two hits and Madison Gaffney struck out a career-high 11 batters, but it wasn’t enough as Emmetsburg defeated Storm Lake 13-2 in a Lakes Conference game on Wednesday.

“Weird night of weather and softball,” Storm Lake coach Mel Fisher said. “We only had one putout at first base all game. Strikeouts and pop flies were a major part of the game. It was nice to see some offensive production from the bats, netting seven hits.

“Madison Gaffney pitched a great game, striking out 11 batters for a season-high,” Fisher added. “She took command of the count early against most batters and used that to her advantage.”
