Alta-Aurelia uses aggressive baserunning to win TLC game

Tayler Rohwer pitched a two-hitter in the circle and drove in a run with a single to help Alta-Aurelia beat Pocahontas Area 4-1 in a Twin Lakes Conference game last Friday at Pocahontas.

The Warriors broke a 1-1 tie by scoring two runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh.

Alta-Aurelia had seven hits in the game. Micah Barnes and Jenna Snyder each had two. Rohwer, Cristena Heschke and Stephanie Stange each drove in a run with a hit.

Rohwer allowed only two hits and no earned runs while walking none and striking out five over seven innings in the circle.

“Very aggressive baserunning helped win this game,” Alta-Aurelia coach Dave Turnquist said. “We put the ball in play a lot, and very hard, but give Pocahontas credit. They made good plays. D.J. Flores made a great play the last inning by throwing out a runner at home, which was at a crucial point of the game. Micah Barnes played awesome at catcher and had a good offensive night. Tayler only gave up two hits and pitched another gem. It’s always important to win conference games on the road.”
