Police were dispatched to Walmart in reference to several shoplifters who were detained on Friday at 4:35 p.m. Staff told police that Dawn Trierweiler, 46, of Spencer, allegedly took almost $300 worth of merchandise and hid them in her purse and under her coat.
Mitchell Trierweiler, 24, and a 12-year-old girl, both of Spencer, reportedly acted as lookouts as the thefts were taking place.

Man charged with OWI, nine misdemeanors
Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Lake Avenue at Godfather’s Pizza in reference to a motor vehicle accident on Friday at 1:02 a.m.
Police observed that a red SUV had entered the intersection of Lake and Milwaukee avenues and lost control, causing the vehicle to roll over and come to a rest on the Godfather’s Pizza property.

Woman jailed after reportedly taking $5,000 in bond money
A Storm Lake woman was charged with second-degree theft after allegedly taking bond money from a criminal case and using it for herself.
On Saturday, Nov. 25, police took a report in reference to a theft.

Woman cited with theft
Police took a report from the Fareway grocery store in reference to a series of closed account checks that were used at the store on Oct. 9.
Store staff told police that Brooke Launderville, 19, of Pocahontas, had allegedly negotiated several checks on a closed account at the store over a five-day period totaling approximately $400.

Police ask for help after 2 men charged with robbery, wreath set on fire
Police have made two arrests in connection with an early morning robbery and continue to investigate an arson at a Storm Lake apartment complex police believe is related to the robbery incident.
Police arrested Sergio Quintero Jr., 26, and a 15-year-old boy, both of Storm Lake, on Friday morning.

Man reportedly chokes girlfriend
On Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. police were dispatched to 501 Lake Ave. in reference to a domestic assault.
Police spoke with the victim who alleged that her boyfriend choked her around 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Wanted man found at SL motel
Police responded to the Super 8 Motel after receiving information that a wanted person may be at the motel Aug. 6 at 5:40 p.m.
Upon arrival police proceeded to room #238, where they made contact with and arrested Mike Mallinger, 42, of Fort Dodge. Mallinger was wanted out of Polk County on the charge of driving while barred.

Alabama men charged with theft, trespass
Police were dispatched on July 24 at 7:54 a.m. in reference to a theft from city property.
Police met with a man who told police he was conducting work for the City of Storm Lake at the Memorial Road City Storage area when he encountered two people trying to remove an old lake service barge from the property.
