Brown, Shima second; team finishes sixth
Jorge Sandoval captured an individual title at 285 pounds to help lead Storm Lake to a sixth-place finish in the Waverly-Shell Rock Invitational last Saturday.
Fort Dodge won the meet with 228 points. Storm Lake scored 116.
Sandoval won by pin in 3:30 in the semifinals and then won by decision 1-0 in the finals.

Lance Else placed third and Trent Miller took sixth to lead Ridge View in the Herb Irgens Invitational last Saturday at Ida Grove.
Else took third at 160 pounds. He lost by pin in the first round in 5:55 before winning six straight matches in the consolation rounds. Else won by major decision 17-6, won by pin in 1:14, won by pin in 5:57, won by decision 9-6, won by major decision 15-4 and won by injury default in the third-place match.

Nick Gaes won all four of his matches to help Alta-Aurelia break even in the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Duals last Saturday. The Warriors won two of the four matches they wrestled.
Alta-Aurelia defeated Coon Rapids-Bayard 42-27. Gaes won his match by pin in 16 seconds at 220 pounds. Tyler Peterson won by pin in 1:45 at 106. Sam Zimmerman (145), Nathan Weflen (160), Brock Mier (170), Alex DeRoos (182) and Sam Sherkenbach (113) all won their respective matches by forfeit.

Falls to Spencer by 13
Spencer scored 23 fourth-quarter points to help it pull away from a close game as the Tigers went on to defeat Storm Lake 63-50 in a Lakes Conference game last Friday at Spencer.
The Tigers outscored the Tornadoes 23-11 in the final 8 minutes.

Bryce Coppock finished with 27 points, seven rebounds and two assists as Newell-Fonda held off a furious second-half charge by Southeast Webster to win 70-65 in a Twin Lakes Conference game last Friday night at Newell.
The Mustangs jumped out to a 20-11 lead after the first quarter. It was 39-21 at halftime. The Jaguars pulled within 57-46 by the end of the third quarter.
Aden Mahler contributed 11 points for the Mustangs, now 9-5 overall. R.J. Rojas and Jake Davis each scored eight points. Jimmy Becker added seven, Jesse Haack five and Tanner Gerke four.

Warriors fall, 57-48
Alex Snyder scored 13 points to lead three players in double figures, but it wasn’t enough as East Sac County knocked off Alta-Aurelia 57-48 in a Twin Lakes Conference game last Friday at Alta.
The Raiders jumped out to an 11-7 lead after the first quarter. It was 22-17 at halftime and 35-23 heading into the fourth quarter. The Warriors outscored the Raiders 25-22 in the final 8 minutes, but it wasn’t enough.

Hunter Decker scored 13 points and added five rebounds to help SIoux Central get past South Central Calhoun 50-47 in a Twin Lakes Conference game last Friday at Sioux Rapids.
South Central Calhoun held an 11-4 lead after the first quarter and took a 24-19 lead at the half. It was 35-34 South Central Calhoun heading into the fourth quarter.
Jake Hanson scored 12 points for Sioux Central, now 8-5 overall. Ben Hargens added nine and Blake Cavanaugh six.
Trace Blomberg scored three points, Chase Jessen, Prestan Samson and Zach Lundquist two apiece, and Logan Grote one.

Jaxon Franken scored 17 points, but it wasn’t enough as Woodbury Central got past Ridge View 56-50 in a Western Valley Conference game last Friday at Holstein.
Woodbury Central held a 10-4 lead after the first quarter. It was 24-17 at halftime and 39-33 Wildcats heading into the fourth period.
Ezra Miller contributed 16 points for Ridge View, now 4-10 overall. Logan Cuthrell had nine points and Jacob Tokheim four. Kevin McGuire and Klint Blum each added two points apiece.

Hunter Decker scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures as Sioux Central defeated Harris-Lake Park 77-58 in a nonconference game last Thursday at Sioux Rapids.
The Rebels, now 7-5, led 19-13 after the first quarter before extending the lead to 36-22 by halftime. It was 59-49 Rebels entering the fourth.
Ben Hargens scored 17 points for Sioux Central. Jake Hanson added 14, Prestan Samson 12 and Logan Grote 10. Blake Cavanaugh tallied five points and Trace Blomberg one.

Beavers win, 88-82
Buena Vista had six players score in double figures, led by 15 points from Thomas Wisecup, and the Beavers overcame a two-point halftime deficit to complete the season sweep of Simpson College with an 88-82 win last Saturday at Siebens Fieldhouse.
