A veterans sweetheart supper will be held on Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at Alta Community Building. Ham and cheesy potatoes will be served. Cost is $10. Entertainment is Touch of Broadway at 7 p.m.

Life is not about money – but how people manage their money impacts their quality of life, their family’s life and the life of their community. A new course from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach provides the tools Iowans need to work toward financial goals.
“Your Money, Your Future begins April 10,” said Katelyn Brinkerhoff, Buena Vista County Extension Program Coordinator. “In this three-part course you’ll learn how to make your money work for you.”

Iowa landowners statewide have opportunities to receive planning and financial assistance of nearly $600,000 through two USDA programs to implement habitat for Monarch butterflies on their land.
Monarch populations have declined markedly over the past 20 years. The loss of habitat, such as milkweed, that associated with changes in agricultural systems has emerged as a major factor in their decline.
