Lois Gutz

Lois Adelia Gutz, 95, of Storm Lake peacefully entered her heavenly home on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at her rural home.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 11, at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements. 

Lois was born Nov. 29,1922 in Grant Township, northeast of Storm Lake, to Warren and Georgia (Williams) Morse. She was baptized and confirmed in Storm Lake on June 25, 1939. Lois lived with her parents on their farm and graduated from Storm Lake High School.

On April 28, 1941, Lois was united in marriage to Gerhardt George Gutz at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. Together, they were blessed with two children, Bernie and Norlin Gutz. Gerhardt and Lois were married for 71 years before his passing in 2012.

Lois was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in which she was involved with Ladies Aid, as well as many other groups and Bible studies.

Warm-hearted and kind, Lois was blessed with a caring spirit and a true passion for loving children. She enjoyed painting, playing her organ, playing cards, knitting, sewing, puzzles and spending time with her family and many grand and great-grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared Lois’ life are her son, Norlin (Becky) Gutz; daughter-in-law Mardel Frick; grandchildren: Charlie (Jen) Gutz, Sara (Mike) Groher, Kayla (Alessandro) Preto, Emily (Joseph) Horrigan, Ryan Gutz, Kelly (BJ) Habben, Brandon (Heidi) Hout, Brenda (John) Dent, Brian (Maribel) Hout; and 21 great-grandchildren.  Lois is also survived by her brother, Mervin (Donna) Morse; and sisters: Arlene Petersen and Jean Hahn.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Georgia Morse; husband, Gerhardt Gutz; son, Bernie Gutz; and brothers: Norton Morse, Frank Morse and Ivan Morse.
