St. Mary’s gets past Clay Central-Everly by a basket in first round game

Lizzie Lenhart scored 16 points to lead three players in double figures as Storm Lake St. Mary’s opened the Class 1A regional tournament with a 47-45 win over Clay Central-Everly last Saturday night at St. Mary’s.

The Panthers, now 4-18, played Graettinger-Terril/ Ruthven-Ayrshire (15-8) on Tuesday night at St. Mary’s.

St. Mary’s jumped out to an 11-7 lead after the first quarter. The Panthers extended their lead to 20-13 by halftime, but the Mavericks cut it to 34-29 heading into the fourth period.
