Shelly McManus

Shelly Lee Richardson McManus was born on Oct. 8, 1952 in Glendale, Calif. and went to be with Jesus Feb. 3, 2018. She died peacefully in her home.

Memorial services were held Friday, Feb. 9, at Faith Bible Christian Outreach Center in Storm Lake. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements. 

Her parents, Robert W. Richardson and Bonnie Richardson raised her in Des Moines until the family moved to Fonda in 1971. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines and earned an associates of arts from Des Moines Area Community College.

Shelly married Dennis James McManus on May 17, 1975 at First Assembly of God in Storm Lake. She worked as an administrator at Fonda Care Center. She was a devoted disciple of Jesus from her youth and was involved in a prayer counseling ministry. She sang in the church choir and performed in church musicals. She could find harmonies whenever she sang and a had beautiful voice. The family moved to Bradenton, Fla. toward the end of 1979 where Shelly enjoyed the beach and watched her girls grow through high school and college. She was a fully devoted mother, very loving and encouraged all that she met. Her sons-in-law David Richardson and Brian Flowers loved her and enjoyed their talks with her. She loved her time with her grandchildren and was a loving daughter and sister.  In 2008, Dennis and Shelly moved back to Fonda. Her warm love was felt by all and her hugs will always be remembered.

Shelly is survived by her husband, Dennis McManus of Fonda; her two daughters, Sarah Richardson of Broken Arrow, Okla. and her husband David Richardson; Renee Flowers of Manchester, Tenn. and her husband Brian Flowers; Grandchildren Karis and Allison Richardson and Fischer and Phineas Flowers; Her mother Bonnie Richardson; her siblings: Terry Richardson, Robert Richardson, Becky Sirigotis; and many nieces and nephews.
