Lake takes 2M gallons of waste from burst line

City probes what went wrong

About two million gallons of sewage flowed into Storm Lake last week from a leak in the city sanitary system.

City workers placed a sleeve over a damaged portion of the sewer pipe about 5 p.m. Jan. 29 to stop an ongoing residential wastewater discharge into the lake.
