Wilma Christina Miller was born Oct. 18, 1924 in Pilger, Neb., the daughter of George William and Margaret Ellen (Masters) Miller.

Chris attended Pilger High School, graduating in 1942.

On Nov. 1, 1942, Chris was united in marriage to Fredrick Bade in Stanton, Neb. Together they were blessed with nine children: Margaret Mary, Christina, Joy, John, Gloria, James, Andrew, Charles and Frank.

After Fred’s passing, Chris married Gerald Widman on Feb. 5, 1983 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake.

In her younger years, Chris was a Den mother for the cub scouts. Her children have many memories “leg wrestling” their mother. Chris enjoyed photography, caring for her cats, feeding the birds and singing all genres of music. She loved being outdoors tending to her garden and flowers. She was also an avid sports fan, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and watching Iowa basketball. Most of all, Chris loved her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Christina (Gaylen) Roskens of Sanborn; Joy (Richard) Waggoner of Newell; John (Marcia) Bade of Boone; Gloria Bade of Sioux City; James Bade of Denver, Colo.; Charles (Julie) Bade of Aurora, Colo.; Frank Bade of Newell; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Ellen Conrad of San Diego, Calif.; Gerald’s family: Rick Widman, Mary Ann (Randy) Johnson, Jean (Scott) Miksch, Karen Widman and their families; extended family and friends.
