Third quarter proves costly for SL in setback to Pocahontas Area

Pocahontas Area outscored Storm Lake 19-12 in the third quarter, and that was enough to give the Indians a 62-54 win over the Tornadoes in a nonconference game last Thursday at Tornado Fieldhouse.

Storm Lake, now 4-13, held an 8-7 lead after the first quarter. It was 25-24 Pocahontas Area at halftime. The Indians took a 44-36 lead into the fourth quarter of play.

“We had our chances,” Storm Lake coach Jesse Nitchals said. “We didn’t play hard all four quarters, but we had some girls step up their game. One that comes to mind right away is Jenna Neumann.”
