A cautionary tale for those who wheel on ice

The Buena Vista County Sheriff and two towing companies extracted a truck from Pickerel Lake that breached thin ice Saturday morning.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, sheriff’s deputies received a call of a truck that fell through the ice in the small lake northeast of Marathon. Deputies responded and found a red 2003 Chevy Avalanche stuck in an ice breach in the eastern edge of the lake 100 yards off a boat ramp.
