Norma Anderson

Norma M. Anderson, 96, of Sioux Rapids died Jan. 16, 2018 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City.

Services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Norma Marguerite (Gei­singer) Anderson was born July 27, 1921 in Storm Lake to Oren and Fern (Samsel) Geisinger. She spent her childhood in the Cornell area at the family farm. She attended and graduated in 1938 from the Cornell School. She started working the following month for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Cherokee.

This is where she met Donald Anderson. They were married Oct. 5, 1941, on the family farm. Shortly after, our country was at war and Donald served in the South Pacific until 1945. Donald and Norma returned to make their home in Sioux Rapids. They were blessed with three children: Judy, Paul and Richard Todd.

Norma was a member of First United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir, served on many committees and was active in Woman’s Fellowship. She was a 50-year member of Eastern Star and served in numerous posts. She was a member of Little Sioux Golf and Country Club and played Ladies League. She also enjoyed playing cards with several groups and was involved in many clubs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; two brothers: Gerald and Bruce; and one sister, Ruth Thomson.

She is survived by her children: Judith Vincent, Paul (Cheryl) Anderson, Richard Todd Anderson all of Linn Grove; grandchildren: Chuck (Wendy) Vincent of Sommerville, S.C.; Beth (Kevin) Saalwaechter of Spring, Texas; Laura and Linda Anderson of Sioux Rapids; Katie (Pete) Kragel of Marathon; Aaron (Sarah) Anderson of Linn Grove; Mark (Robin) Anderson of Oskaloosa; Chad Anderson of Grimes; great-grandchildren: Taylor, Trev and Tucker Kragel; Maggie, Finn and Arlo Anderson; Miles Vincent; nieces, nephews, as well as other relatives.
