Allen Voge

Allen (Al) Voge was born Nov. 9, 1944 in Alta to Walter and Geneva Voge of rural Galva. He was raised on the Voge Family Farm northwest of Galva along with his six siblings. He attended from Galva Community School and completed his high school education there. He and Jyl Miller were married on Oct. 21, 1988. Al passed away Jan. 9, 2018 after a short illness.

After Al graduated from Galva High School he attended University of Iowa where he received a BS degree in chemistry.  He then went on to attend University of North Dakota as a graduate student. During this time his career path changed as he started working as a Systems Programmer at Centel Corporation and later worked for the State of Nebraska until his retirement.

Al was a good man, a plain and simple man, who will be missed by all who knew him. He was a man of few words, but when he chose to speak, it was well worth listening to what he had to say. Al was a past member of Aksarben Curling Club, Izaak Walton League and Men’s Senior Golf League. He enjoyed being a host parent for the Lincoln Stars for five years.

Family members cherishing his memory include his wife Jyl; sister Karen (Carroll) Perkins, Jefferson; brothers: Gerald Voge, Cherokee; Pat (Anne) Voge, Iowa Falls; Paul (Lois) Voge, Galva; sisters-in-law: Cindy Els, Peg (Gary) Bernard, Becky Brown, all of Benkelman, Neb.; a host of nieces and nephews and many extended family members including the Bryan Lundbohm Family of Roseau, Minn.

Al was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Geneva Voge; parents-in-law Eugene and Ilene Miller; brothers William Voge and Dennis Voge; sisters-in-law Debbie Voge and Laura Voge; brother-in-law Richard Els; niece Patricia Voge; and nephews Daniel Voge and Philip Voge. He will also be missed by his many friends.

Al’s body will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held for family and friends on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. at Lincoln Memorial in Lincoln, Neb. Dress is casual and a luncheon will follow the service. Please make all memorials to the family for future designation.

An additional memorial service for Al is planned for this spring in Holstein. An announcement will be made when that date is determined.
