Rollie Kruse

Rollie W. Kruse, 91, of Albert City died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 at Pleasant View Home in Albert City.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 29, at First United Church in Sioux Rapids. Burial was in Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.

Rollie William Kruse was born Aug. 17, 1926 to Fred H. and Hattie (Brummer) Kruse on a farm near Albert City. His brother and sisters were Roger, Geneva, Jeanette and Verna.

Rollie received his education at Lincoln Number 7 in Buena Vista County. He farmed for his father for seven years and then farmed the family farm until his retirement in 2006.

Rollie married Ardyce Johnson on June 22, 1947. Their children are Marcia Kay, Glen Lloyd and Gary Lee.

Rollie was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church near Newell. He remained a member until its closing. He served as church president, trustee and many years as treasurer of the cemetery board.

Rollie also served on the Buena Vista County Zoning Board and was a leader of Albert City Boy Scouts. Rollie was also a lifelong member of Buena Vista County Farm Bureau.

He and Ardyce traveled from Washington DC to Seattle, Wash. Rollie enjoyed his family, farming, hunting and fishing. He loved listening to music and enjoyed dancing. 

Rollie was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; sisters: Geneva Betz, Verna Olson; brothers-in-law: Phil Betz, Roger Olson, Kenneth Boese, John Johnson, Don Sanderson, Dee Owens; and sisters-in-law: Leah Sanderson, Margaret Owens and Ann Johnson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ardyce Kruse; children: Marcia Kay Timm, Glen (Pat) Kruse, and Gary Kruse; grandchildren: Jeremy Timm, Stephanie Timm (Paul Stetler), Chad (Sonja) Timm, Justin (Jodee) Kruse, Kevin Kruse, Andrea (Gayland) Garber, Derek Kruse, Nicole (Tim) Grace and Allison Kruse; great-grandchildren: Tyler and Gabriel Timm, Hayes and Sylvie Stetler, Nia McClary, Aubrie Grace and Kami and Karli Kruse; sister, Jeanette Boese; brother, Roger (Jane) Kruse; extended family and friends.
