Newell-Fonda comes up short in loss to Spencer in season opener

Jake Davis finished with a career-high 22 points and added nine rebounds and two assists. but it wasn’t enough as Spencer spoiled Newell-Fonda’s season opener with a 75-62 win on Tuesday at Spencer.

The Tigers jumped out to a 19-11 lead after the first quarter. It was 44-33 at halftime and 62-46 heading into the fourth period of play.

Bryce Coppock scored 19 points for the Mustangs. Jesse Haack added 10 points, Aden Mahler six, Tanner Gerke three and R.J. Rojas two.
