Shorty’s Island is nearly done


The Iowa Department of Natural Resources expects work on Shorty’s Island to be substantially complete before the year ends.

DNR Field Engineer Jeff Felts told The Storm Lake Times Monday the agency’s contractor, Shekar Engineering of Des Moines, has shipped and placed 95% of the rock that gird the island. Felts said the contractor should have all the rock out to the island by the end of the week.
