Bernice Fehr

Bernice L. Fehr, 96, of Washington died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at United Presbyterian Home in Washington.

Celebration of life services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, at United Presbyterian Home main dining room. Calling hours will begin noon Friday at Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oak Brook Terrace, Ill. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County. Bernice was born March 21, 1921 in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Arthur and Clara (Drew) Weinhoff.  She attended Grant White Elementary School in Forest Park, Ill., and graduated from Proviso High School in Maywood, Ill. Bernice was united in marriage to Eugene C. Fehr on June 14, 1941, in Oak Park, Ill.

Bernice was an office worker at a finance company in Oak Park, Ill. She was a homemaker following her husband’s time of service in World War II.  Bernice was a devoted wife and mother, caring for her family, especially her son Robert who had cerebral palsy. Bernice moved to Storm Lake in 1989 where she was an active member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church. She participated in Church Sewing Circles, Morning Church Circles, was a volunteer for Easter Seals and was a hospital volunteer while in Storm Lake. She moved to rural Wayland in 2007. She was active in United Presbyterian Church in Washington where she participated in Bible Studies. Bernice moved to United Presbyterian Home in 2014.

She is survived by her son, Randolph Fehr and wife Jane of Washington; grandson, Timothy Fehr and wife Cathy and their children Rachel and Lauren of Iowa City; and granddaughter, Robin Kirk and husband Thomas and their children Brandon and Allison of Clarkston, Mich.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1994; one son, Robert in 1979; and one sister, Alice LaBelle.
