Lynn Bailey

Lynn J. Bailey, 69, of Marathon died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 at Pleasant View Home in Albert City. 

A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, Oct. 28, from 9-11 a.m. at Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. Burial will be at a later date.

Lynn James Bailey, the son of James W. and Beata (Monkelien) Bailey was born in Emmetsburg on April 30, 1948.

He lived his youth in Marathon and received his education at Marathon Consolidated School, graduating in 1966. 

In November 1968, Lynn was united in marriage to Joyce Smith. They were blessed with three sons: Brian, Brent and Brad.

Throughout his lifetime, Lynn was employed as an electrician, lineman and heavy equipment operator. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, cooking and barbecuing. Lynn treasured spending time with family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Lynn’s life is celebrated by his family which include his three sons:  Brian (Michelle) Bailey of Des Moines; Brent (Brenda) Bailey of Chandler, Ariz.; and Brad (Melissa) Bailey of Des Moines; grandchildren: Sebastian Bailey of Des Moines; Lauren (Nick) Donahoe of Urbandale; Isaac, Hannah and Caleb Bailey all of Des Moines; William (Christina) Bailey of Spencer; Gwyneth and Camille Bailey both of Gilbert, Ariz.; Arianna Rodriguez of Chandler, Ariz.; great-grandchildren: Declyn and Dallyn Donahoe of Urbandale, and one more expected great-grandchild; three brothers: Neil (Kay) Bailey of Elizabeth, Ill.; Wayne Bailey of Ayrshire; Dan (Tracey) Bailey of Rembrandt; three sisters: Beverly (Mike) McConeghey of Fairfield; Bonnie Black (Harry Reese) of Laurens; and Becky (Doug) Baker of Laurens; other extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara; and brother-in-law, Bob Black.
