Surviving members of the Pauline Sorenson family gathered Saturday morning at the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office for two special honors.

The Sheriff’s Office presented a flag to the family in memory of Sorenson, a beloved deputy with the office for 26 years, who passed away Dec. 24, 2016.

Family members promptly donated the flag back to the office. It was unfolded and hoisted up the flagpole and will fly throughout the month of September. A gathering of friends joined in the Pledge of Allegiance.
