Blank Park Zoo visits Alta Library

Mallory displays what a shedded snake skin looks like.

Mallory from Blank Park Zoo was at Alta Community Library to explain how animals and pollination are important in “Building A Better World.”

She chose to bring a kenric, a Preuvian guinea pig, sand boa and a marine toad to talk about and show the children.

The kenric is found in Madagascar where they are often seen in a tree. In order to protect themselves they roll up into a ball leaving their spines sticking out. Also, they are able to cleanse themselves by rolling around in the sand. They eat insects, worms, some fruit and occasionally young mice.
