Former USD runners set new record to win Ride-Run event

Two former University of South Dakota cross country runners and track and field members teamed up to win the 38th annual Ride-Run Around the Lake on Tuesday.

Brant Haase and Jeff Mettler finished the 11.1-mile race in a time of 46 minutes and 29 seconds. The clocking was a new course record. The old mark was 47:46 set in 1997 by Dave Dixon and Jason Grubb. The second place team of Ryan Marzen and Sean Austin of Denison finished in 47:30.
