Food Bank Challenge helps fill demand at UDMO

Local banks stepped up again this year in the fourth annual Food Bank Challenge. They collected non-perishable food and supplies for the past month and delivered a big load to Upper Des Moines Opportunity on Friday. “It couldn’t have come at a better time,” said Maggie Reyes of UDMO. “The shelves are almost empty in the food pantry and there’s a great demand now that school has let out. Freezers are empty and laundry detergent is gone,” she added.
