Newell-Fonda holds off late rally by Storm Lake to come away with win

Newell-Fonda scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a seven-run lead before holding off a Storm Lake five-run rally in the seventh inning to win 10-8 on Tuesday at Fonda.

The Mustangs scored a run in the first inning, two in the third, one in the fourth, one in the fifth and five in the sixth.

Storm Lake plated a run in the third, one in the fourth, one in the sixth and five in the seventh.

Newell-Fonda totaled 10 hits, including three by Reed Kruse. He scored two runs and drove in two runs.
