Thank you to Hospice Volunteers

Right her in our community, (Storm Lake, Sac City and the surrounding communities of each town), 25 trained volunteers are working with UnityPoint Hospice and giving selflessly to others nearing the journey at life’s end.  They give of their time and talents in many different ways to ensure that our family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers under hospice care find dignity, hope and love.

April 23-29 is National Volunteer Week and every single volunteer deserves our appreciation and grateful acknowledgement.

According to the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), there are more than 430,000 trained hospice volunteers contributing more than 19 million hours annually to hospice organizations across the country.

Some of our volunteers work directly with patients, visit with them, read to them, and provide respite care.  Others help with clerical work and general support. Our community is a better more compassionate place because of their service.

Many of our volunteers feel inspired and very gratified to serve our hospice patients and their families and we as an organization are so grateful and thankful for their help.  If you are interested in becoming a UnityPoint hospice volunteer, please call (712) 749-2741 for more information.
