SL, Raccoon funds saved amid state budget carnage

In an abrupt about-face, Republican legislators last Wednesday afternoon restored funding to the Iowa Flood Center — a move that averted the loss of nearly $100 million in federal flood control and nutrient reduction grants, including more than $6.6 million in Storm Lake and another $3.7 million dedicated to the North Raccoon River watershed.
