Timely hitting, pitching help BVU sweep twin-bill from Westminster College

Some timely hitting and dominant pitching helped Buena Vista begin its softball season with a doubleheader sweep over Westminster College (Mo.) last Friday. The Beavers picked up 3-2 and 4-1 victories, respectively.

Kennedy Colvert drove in BVU’s first run of the season in the fourth inning of the opener, plating Keely Bycroft. The Beavers added a pair of key insurance runs in the fifth inning on an error by the Blue Jays followed by a Marissa Schmidt single.

Those two runs proved to be big as Westminster scored its only two runs on a two-run home run in the sixth inning.
