Winter webinars explore supporting food security

The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Master Gardener program is exploring how Master Gardeners can support food insecurity during its winter webcast series. The first part was offered January 9. Two additional webinars will take a look at ways to measure impact of volunteer efforts, learn about food safety in the garden, learn about growing and harvesting asparagus and more.

In 2016, Iowa Master Gardeners donated over 60,000 pounds of produce to local food banks. In 2017, Master Gardener volunteers will continue to build on these successes.
