Newell-Fonda used a 21-8 spurt in the first quarter to take control early and the sixth-ranked Mustangs went on to beat Sioux Central 66-37 on Tuesday at Sioux Rapids.

The Mustangs led 41-12 at halftime and 61-23 after three periods of play.

Olivia Larsen led the Mustangs with 21 points. Erin Gerke and Kate Christiansen each added 12.

Emma Stewart and Megan Morenz scored six points apiece. Emily Archer had four, Camryn Wilken three and Anna Tiefenthaler two.
