Stella Viola Morrison Oleson, 94, of Hawarden and formerly of Storm Lake, passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017 in Hawarden.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 3, at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. Burial was in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.
Stella was the daughter of Ben and Thelma (Belt) Morrison, born Oct. 11, 1922 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
On Nov. 1, 1941, Stella was united in marriage to Kenneth Oleson. To this union five children were born. Stella was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church of Storm Lake and a lifetime member in the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Stella was also a member of Amvets Post 66 Auxiliary.
In her younger years, she babysat for many children in Storm Lake. She also worked at Aalfs Manufacturing and was the assistant cook at the Senior Center, which she truly enjoyed. Stella loved decorating the Senior Center for the different holidays as she did in her own home too.
Stella really enjoyed spending time with her family. One of her specialties was making cinnamon rolls which was a family favorite. The whole family looked forward to having cinnamon rolls that she made.
She had a passion for her flower garden and it was a delightful way for her to pass the time. You could count on flowers blooming all spring, summer and fall.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, June of Sioux City; son-in-law, Darrell Eddie of Mesa, Ariz.; son, Eugene of New York City, N.Y.; daughter, Delores (Oleson) Born and son-in-law, Randy Born of Mankato, Minn.; and son, Rodney of Hawarden; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond and Steve of South Dakota.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Betty Eddie; sisters: Mary, Shirley and Evie; parents, Ben and Thelma Morrison; and parents-in-law, Chris and Dena Oleson. Also, her special companion Dean Koeppe.
Stella will be truly missed.
