Neumann’s free throw with no time left gives SL victory

Jenna Neumann made a free throw with no time left on the clock to break a tie and give Storm Lake a 51-50 win over Lakes Conference rival Spencer last Thursday at Tornado Fieldhouse.

Spencer jumped out to a 12-6 lead after the first quarter and took a 26-21 lead at halftime. Storm Lake trailed by as many as 10 points in the third quarter before trailing 39-36 at the end of it. The Tornadoes eventually took a 46-45 lead with under 3 minutes to go.

Tesilia Yanga’s two free throws gave Storm Lake a 50-48 lead with 57 seconds left, but Spencer scored a basket to tie it at 50.
