St. Mary’s will not play varsity schedule for girls basketball this season


Due to a numbers crunch, Storm Lake St. Mary’s will not be playing a varsity girls basketball schedule this season.

St. Mary’s athletic director Jim Nichols told The Times on Wednesday that there simply was not a sufficient number of players to be able to play a varsity schedule in the Twin Lakes Conference.

There was a limited number of girls in grades 9-12 (seven) that were going to play basketball this season. Nichols said there was a meeting that included players, parents and staff.
