Injuries mount for Sioux Central in 12-3 setback

Ben Hargens rushed for 129 yards on 31 carries, but it wasn’t enough as Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn used stingy defense to defeat Sioux Central 12-3 in a district game last Friday night at Hartley.

Sioux Central, which was playing without its top two leading rushers in Brady Rusk and Mac Prior due to injury, was held to 144 yards rushing and 22 yards passing for 166 yards of total offense.

Matt Saunders was 2 of 15 passing for 22 yards. Both passes went to Prestan Samson.

Sioux Central’s only means of points was a 25-yard field goals by Dallas Scott.
