The Hispanic tradition of tying together the bride and groom with a lasso or “lazo” is alive and well here in the Storm Lake area. Here are Adriana and Manuel Menchaca at their wedding in Sioux Rapids in June officiated by Fr. David Esquilliano. Symbolizing the infinite bond of love, the lasso is put on temporarily as prayers are said. At least one wedding planning website suggests incorporating the tradition into one’s wedding ceremony because it’s now a popular trend to look to other cultures for wedding inspiration.
