Elaine Beth Floy, 50, of Owatonna, Minn., died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Sioux City.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna, Minn. on Friday from 6-9 p.m. and at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. A celebration of life service will be held in Owatonna Saturday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Todd Buegler officiating. Interment was in the Fairfield Township Cemetery near Albert City.
She was born Feb. 10, 1966 in Storm Lake, the daughter of Richard and Doris (Paulson) Fondroy. Elaine grew up on her family farm near Albert City, where she was active in many activities including 4-H. She graduated from Albert City-Truesdale High School and later graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science. Elaine married Paul Floy on May 26, 1990 at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Elaine worked for Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids. The couple lived in the Cedar Rapids area until 1996, at which time, they moved to Hillsboro, Tx. While living in Hillsboro, she was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church and also engaged in many volunteer opportunities. In 2008, the family moved to Owatonna where Elaine continued to be an active volunteer. She was an involved member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and vacation bible school volunteer. Volunteering in many capacities was a very important part of Elaine’s life. Most recently, she worked at the 26th Street Kwik Trip in Owatonna.
Elaine loved to run. She ran and exercised daily. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, camping, the outdoors and gardening. Elaine was a very caring mother. Her two daughters were the joy of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Floy of Owatonna, Minn.; daughters, Martha Floy of Manhattan, Kan. and Sarah Floy of Ames; mother, Doris Fondroy of Albert City; sisters, Susan (and Brian) Carstens of Lino Lakes, Minn.; Amy (and Pat) Fondroy Eich of Prescott, Wis.; one niece and five nephews.
She was preceded in death by father, Richard Fondroy; brother, Darrel Fondroy.
