World Horseshoe winner

Marvin Dirks, 75, of Fonda, took first place in the Elders Class at the World Horseshoe Championships Aug. 25-27 in Montgomery, Ala. With the ability to pitch with either hand, Dirks averaged 23 percent. He became eligible by having played in four sanctioned tournaments this year. It is his 14th year in the world tournament.
