Florine Arline Lilly, age 95, of Fonda, died Sept. 9, 2016 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Mass was Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fonda. Mahaney Funeral Home in Fonda was in charge of the arrangements.
Florine Arline Wiese was born June 5, 1921 in Westside, the daughter of Charles and Appolonia Wiese. She was baptized and confirmed as a child.
Growing up, Florine attended school and graduated from Westside High School in 1941.
In December of 1942, Florine was united in marriage to Harold Lilly in St. Joseph, Mo. Together, they were blessed with four children: Larry, Steve, Jeannie and Mary.
Florine was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda, where she served on the Holy Family Society and was a member of Catholic Daughters of America. Florine was a 65 year member of the Legion Auxiliary and loved being a member of the Junior Legion Auxiliary.
In her spare time, Florine enjoyed working in her garden. A favorite past-time of Florine’s was baking goodies or canning vegetables from her garden. Family was important to Florine and she treasured the time she was able to spend with them. Florine will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Larry (Dixie) Lilly of Angleton, Tx.; Steve Lilly of Fonda; Jeannie (Steve) Koch of Fort Dodge; Mary (Clark) Meyer of Conroe, Tx.; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ethel Lilly of Fonda; extended family and many friends.
Florine was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Appolonia Wiese; husband, Harold; brother, Clarence (Clara) Lily; sister, Josephine (George) Hobbs and daughter-in-law, Patricia Lilly.
