Diane L. Schramm, age 68, of Alta, died Sept. 9, 2016 at North Lake Manor.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta. Burial was in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.
Diane Lucille Sundberg Schramm was born in Alta on May 3, 1948 to John and Lucille (Wigg) Sundberg.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended Alta School graduating with the class of 1966, and later attended Iowa Central Community College in Storm Lake.
Diane loved going to movies, being in the Red Hat Society and playing “500” and Wahoo with her friends. Traveling was her passion. Travels throughout her life have taken her to many places in the United States, Mexico and Europe. One of her favorite trips was to the upper east coast with her brother, Gary and Mary. The other favorite trip was a 50th birthday present from her niece, Linda, to London and Athens with a week-long Mediterranean cruise.
She was also known for her love of country music and especially, Johnny Cash, George Jones and Elvis. She was declared Iowa’s #1 Elvis fan in 1978.
Diane worked at Duffy’s in Alta for many years while raising her three children: John, Todd and Diny.
On Aug. 26, 1983, she married Roger Schramm of Storm Lake. She worked with him for 26 years at his business, Peterson Appliance, until they retired. They were blessed with eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. Diane loved being a grandma and great-grandma.
Those left to mourn her death are her husband, Roger; son, John (Kim) Edgington; daughter, Diny Nelson; daughter-in-law, Mary Beth (Len) Rozmus; grandchildren: Nicole (Chris) Sexton; Chloe and Casey; Zach (Chantal) Rozmus and Lexy; Travis (Nicole) Edgington and Ryker; Tyler Edgington; Brandon Dlouhy and Jax; Zane and Kole Hanson; brother-in-law, Doug (Peg) Schramm; sisters-in-law: Jan Sanders, Nancy Gordon, Mary Sundberg and Charlotte Sundberg; and siblings: Kenneth Sundberg and Sandy (Randy) Hogrefe; step-grandchildren: Robby, Tommy and Jazzy Briggs; also many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Helen Cameron.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents; son, Todd; sisters, Elaine Walsh and Darlene Peterson; brothers: Robert, Eldon, Ronnie and Gary Sundberg; sisters-in-law, Gayle and Marge Sundberg; brothers-in-law, Floyd Peterson and Bill Walsh.
