Two arrested for theft at Walmart


Police were dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft on Thursday at 8:35 p.m.

Police were advised that a man and a woman allegedly departed the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise without paying for the items.  The couple placed the items into a vehicle and left the store property.

Security camera video provided police with a description of the vehicle and license number. An investigation subsequently identified the couple as Jarred Hicks, 29, and Dawn Hicks, 22, both of Lytton.

A short time later the Sac County Sheriff’s Department made contact with the couple and they returned to Storm Lake and met with police at the police station.

Police charged both Hicks with fifth-degree theft.

Both Hicks were booked into the county jail on a $300 bond each.

Over $75 in merchandise was recovered.

The Sac County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Storm Lake Police Department.

 

Wanted person arrested


Police responded to 1019 Michigan St. in reference to locating a wanted person on Thursday at 7:53 p.m.

Upon arrival police located and arrested Dwayne Cage, 28, of Storm Lake, who was wanted out of Buena Vista County on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in court reference fifth-degree theft.

Cage was booked into the county jail on a $300 bond.

 

Wanted person arrested after traffic stop


Police stopped a vehicle in the 1300 block of Lake Avenue when he observed a wanted person in the vehicle on Friday at 5 p.m.

Police made contact with Esteban Hernandez, 36, of Alta, who was wanted out of Buena Vista County on a warrant charging him with contempt of court reference failure to pay fines.

Police arrested Hernandez and booked him into the county jail on a $350 bond.

 

Woman arrested for theft at Walmart


Police were dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft on Monday at 7:55 p.m.

Police met with store staff who said that Dawn James, 61, of Storm Lake, concealed approximately $64 in merchandise, and attempted to leave the store without paying for the items.

Following an investigation police arrested James, who was detained by store staff and charged her with fifth-degree theft.

She was booked into the county jail on a $300 bond.

 

Man allegedly causes disturbance at BVRMC


Police were sent to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in reference to a disturbance on Monday at 6:40 p.m.

Upon arrival police were directed to a person in the lobby area at the medical center who allegedly was yelling and making abusive gestures towards staff as well as throwing food.

Police made contact with the person and identified him as Juan Palomarez, 38, of Storm Lake.

Following an investigation police arrested Palomarez and charged him with disorderly conduct.

He was booked into the county jail on a $300 bond.

No injuries were reported.
