Ex-juvenile court worker charged with trading sex for a break on community service obligation hours

14-year-old girl was victim

An arrest was made on Monday into an alleged sexual assault case in Storm Lake.

Police say that between Sept. 1, 2008 and October 2008, Trent Prather, 26, of Estherville, who was working as a community service supervisor for the Buena Vista County Juvenile Courts Office, allegedly engaged in a sex act with a 14-year-old.

She was a client of the Juvenile Court System.

The investigation reports that Prather promised to eliminate the victim’s court-assigned community service hours in exchange for sex.

Police charged Prather with sexual abuse and he was arrested by the Estherville Police Department and is being held on a $10,000 bond awaiting transfer to the county jail.
