Big inning plagues St. Mary’s in setback to Alta-Aurelia

Alta-Aurelia did most of its damage early as the Warriors scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and went on to defeat Twin Lakes Conference rival Storm Lake St. Mary’s 12-2 on Wednesday at Alta.

Alta-Aurelia made it 8-1 with a run in the second inning and tacked on four more runs in the sixth on five base hits.

The Warriors finished with 11 hits in the game. Kale Nelson led the way with two hits, two runs scored and two RBI. Ross Friedrich, Jayden VanBerkum and Mitchell Fritz all had two hits apiece.
